description
Intestinal Ultrasonography 2026, held on January 28 and 29, 2026, at theFleming Auditorium at the Tor Vergata University Hospital in Rome, brought together international specialists in the field of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases andintestinal ultrasound. The event, under the scientific direction of Mariangela Allocca and Emma Calabrese and organized with the support of Materia Prima, awarded 6.3 ECM credits to eligible Italian participants.
The scientific program alternated between specialized presentations, multidisciplinary sessions, and live ultrasound demonstrations, exploring the use ofintestinal ultrasonography in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Particular attention was given to monitoring treatment response, scoring systems, the assessment of complications, postoperative recurrence, transperineal ultrasound, pediatric applications, and the role of the IUS in achieving transmural remission.
The sessions also examined the integration of intestinal ultrasound with other imaging modalities, its use in the multidisciplinary management of patients with IBD, and the main unmet needs, outlining the future prospects of the discipline.
Thanks to Materia Prima’s expertise in organizing medical and scientific events and managing international faculty, Intestinal UltraSonography 2026 provided an important opportunity for professional development, discussion, and knowledge-sharing regarding the use of intestinal ultrasound in daily clinical practice.
