Multicolor flow cytometry is a powerful tool that allows increasingly detailed characterization of cell populations. However, the quality of the analyses largely depends on the proper design of the antibody panel, the correct preparation and calibration of the instrument, the accuracy of sample handling during the pre-analytical phase, and the rigor of the analytical approach used for data interpretation. From this arises the need to provide individuals using multicolor flow cytometry with the skills required to manage its complexity.

The course aims to provide participants with:
i) a theoretical explanation of the principles of multicolor flow cytometry;
ii) hands-on laboratory activities for sample preparation;
iii) individual practice at the flow cytometer for instrument setup and sample acquisition;
iv) individual exercises in a computer lab for cytometric data analysis using traditional manual gating and unsupervised computational analysis tools;
v) collective discussion of cases and troubleshooting, with the goal of developing the skills to manage the most common challenges encountered when using this technology.
